I teach piano from my music studio in the grounds of my home in Ben Rhydding, Ilkley. I also work part time in a local school and have school age children myself.  My key aim is to motivate and enthuse pupils to play the piano and to develop more general musical skills. Learning piano is, of course, a goal in itself but the ability to read music and the development of musicianship skills will give any child a deeper appreciation of music and an amazing head start if they wish to learn another instrument.

Beginners lessons are usually based around the Supersonics Piano Method https://www.supersonicspiano.com/ This is a fun, modern and engaging method designed to teach key piano skills with plenty of online and offline resources available. I like to use other resources as well and there will be opportunities for incorporating favourite songs and developing musicianship skills in our lessons.

I have a Kawai digital piano that is wonderful for teaching beginners and more advanced pupils alike. For most pupils a half hour lesson weekly works well but please let me know if you have any other requirements. As a parent, I understand that there will be times when you cannot make a lesson, so I will always do my best to find another time for a lesson later in the week.  I teach children after school and evenings on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I also enjoy teaching adults and am available on a weekly or ad hoc basis on Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesday during the day, or evenings.

I have an ARSM Diploma in Music Performance, am a member of the ISM (Independent Society of Musicians) and have a current DBS certificate. Please contact me by phone or email if you are interested in lessons. I charge £17.50 for a 30 minute lesson.
